For as long as I can remember, I always loved to create and draw. I cannot imagine living a non-creative life.
When I was in secondary school, sketching things between (and sometimes during) lessons wasn’t enough, so I took painting and drawing classes after the hours. I got a better sense of what I was doing.
After high school and a few internships trying to figure out what I want to do, I opted for an art school in South Africa. Ironically, I spent all my free time with the graphic design students, and it opened my world in a way I wasn’t expecting.
After obtaining my diploma in fine art and going back home, I was set on continuing my studies a bit further and went for a graphic design certificate.
Looking back, I think my biggest motivation are my curiosity and wanting to do new things all the time. Watching the making of Disney’s Snow White pushed me into studying fine art, and having conversations with my graphic designer friends about why the typography on the fish and chips’ restaurant was bad made me want to learn design.
